A number of medical conditions are insufficiently recognised, diagnosed and treated due to a lack of knowledge, and may be under-researched, even though they are a major burden for patients and society.
The EU Health Support Consortium conducted exploratory research for the European Commission into these so-called ‘high-burden under-researched medical conditions’. Four complementary perspectives were used to identify conditions with a high disease burden that may be under-researched.
This resulted in the identification of 12 groups of conditions - one of these is sleep-wake disorders. EARLS will advocate together with EFNA for RLS to be included in main groups for further detailed for the sleep-wake disorders.
